The Real Folk Blues
Everything has a beginning and an end. Life is just a cycle of stops and starts. There are ends we don’t desire, but they’re inevitable, we have to face them. That’s what been human is all about. Life is nothing but a fast trip. But make sure you pay close attention to the end…
- Have you heared this story? A man injured his leg during a hunt. He’s in the middle of the savanna, no means to treat the wound. The leg rots and death approaches. Last minute he’s picked up by an airplane. He looks down and sees a land of pure white below him, glistening in the light. Is the summit of a snow-covered mountain. The Mountain is the Kilimanjaro. As he gazes down he feels the life flowing out of him and he thinks: “That’s where I was headed”
- And?
- I hate storys like that. Men only think about the past right before they’re death, as if they were searching frantically for proof that they were alive. Turn back. When you and I first met you told me something. You said that you had died once, that you’ve seen death. Why can you just let it go. Forget the past.
- There was a woman. First time I’ve found someone who was truly alive. Atlist that’s what I thought. She was the part of me I’ve lost somewhere along the way, the part that was missing, that I’ve been longing for…
- …Ever heard this story? There once was a tiger-striped cat. This cat died a million deaths, reborn and lived a millions lifes, and he was own by varios pople who he didn’t really care for. The cat wasn’t afraid to die. Then one day the cat became a straight cat, wich meant he was free. He met a white female cat and the two of them spent they're days happily. Well, years passed, and the white cat grew week and died of old age. The tiger-striped cat cried a million times and then he died too, except this time he didn’t come back to life.
- Yeah, it’s a good story
- I hate that story
- Why?
- I never liked cats, you know that...
- ...Can I ask you something?
- What’s that
- Is it for the girl?
- She’s death. There’s nothing I can do for her now.
The past is the past, the future is the future. A man is a man, and a woman is a woman. The present is the present. I am who I am, and you are who you are. Dose it really matter? Or just did we think they do?
- Where are you going? Why are you going? You told me once to forget the past couse it dosen’t matter. But you’re the one still tight to the past.
- Look at my eyes. One of them is a fake couse I lost it in an accident. Since then, I’ve been seeing the past in one eye, and the present in the other. So I thought I can only see patches of reality, never the whole picture.
- Don’t tell me things like that. You never told me anything about yourself. So don’t tell me now
- I felt like I’ve been watching a dream I never wake up from. Before I knew it, the dream was all over
- My memory finally came back. But nothing good came of it. There was no place for me to return to. This was the only place I could go. And now you’re leaving, just like that. Why do you have to go? Where are you going? What are you going to do? Just throw your life away like it was nothing? !!!
- I’m not going there to die. I’m going to find out if I’m really alive…
Do not fear death. Death is always at our side. When we show fear, it jumps at us faster than light. But if you do not show fear, it casts it’s eye upon us gently, and then guides us into infinity.
- So, you’re finally awake. I told you before, I’m the only one who can kill you and set you free
- Those words apply to you as well. Either way, it’s going to end here…
- …She is death. Let’s finish it now
- As you wish…
There have been many things, but the next dream could be the last. No use doing this, so just nevermind. We’ll see you again, sometime, somewhwre.
“IT’S JUST A DREAM. YEAH, JUST A DREAM…”
